DyC 84:33 Porque quienes son fieles hasta obtener estos dos sacerdocios de
los cuales he hablado, y magnifican su llamamiento, son santificados por el
Espíritu para la renovación de sus cuerpos.
34 Llegan a ser los hijos de Moisés y de Aarón, y la descendencia de
Abraham, y la iglesia y reino, y los elegidos de Dios.
35 Y también todos los que reciben este sacerdocio, a mí me reciben, dice el
Señor;
36 porque el que recibe a mis siervos, me recibe a mí;
37 y el que me recibe a mí, recibe a mi Padre;
38 y el que recibe a mi Padre, recibe el reino de mi Padre; por tanto, todo lo
que mi Padre tiene le será dado.
39 Y esto va de acuerdo con el juramento y el convenio que corresponden a
este sacerdocio.
40 Así que, todos los que reciben el sacerdocio reciben este juramento y
convenio de mi Padre, que él no puede quebrantar, ni tampoco puede ser
traspasado.
Qué nos ha prometido el Señor por cumplir con el juramento y convenio del
sacerdocio? Todo lo que el Padre tiene.
Qué es nuestra parte en el convenio? Recibir y magnificar. En que manera
podemos recibir a los siervos del Hijo? No lo hacemos cuando aceptamos
llamamientos y asignaciones que provienen de los que poseen llaves del
sacerdocio? Y como magnificamos estos llamamientos? Magnificamos
nuestros llamamientos simplemente por cumplir con las responsabilidades
que pertenecen a ellos.
Que incentivo necesitamos? (historia del presidente Wilcock ofrecio $20
para que un hombre saltara de un acantilado al oceano)
Que haríamos por $20, $100, $1,000, $100,000? Haríamos nuestros visitas
ministrantes cada mes si el obispo nos prometiera $1,000? Asistiríamos a
nuestras reuniones todos los domingo si el obispo nos daría $100?
Aceptaríamos y Cumpliríamos con cualquier llamamiento que nos viene si
nos pagaba este llamamiento $100,000 al año? ¿No nos ha prometido el
Señor mas que todo eso? El nos ha prometido todo lo que el Padre tiene.
Ahora, Estas bendiciones que pertenecen al sacerdocio no son solamente
para los hombres de la iglesia. El Elder M. Russell Ballard (Liahona Sep
2014) ha dicho:
La Iglesia de Jesucristo de los Santos de los Últimos Días es la Iglesia del
Señor, y Su Iglesia se gobierna por y a través de la autoridad del sacerdocio
y las llaves del mismo. “Las llaves del sacerdocio son la autoridad que Dios
ha dado a los líderes del sacerdocio para dirigir, controlar y gobernar el uso
de Su sacerdocio en la tierra. El ejercicio de la autoridad del sacerdocio lo
gobiernan aquellos que poseen sus llaves (véanse D. y C. 65:2; 81:2;
124:123)… [y] tienen derecho a presidir y dirigir la Iglesia en una
jurisdicción”.
“En el grandioso plan de nuestro Padre Celestial, que incluye el sacerdocio,
los hombres tienen la singular responsabilidad de administrarlo; pero ellos
no son el sacerdocio. Los hombres y las mujeres desempeñan funciones
diferentes pero igualmente valiosas.
Quienes poseen llaves del sacerdocio hacen posible que todos los que sirven
o trabajan fielmente bajo su dirección ejerzan la autoridad del sacerdocio y
tengan acceso al poder del sacerdocio. Todos los hombres y todas las

hijos” (Salmo 127:3). Los padres tienen el deber sagrado de criar a sus hijos
con amor y rectitud, de proveer para sus necesidades físicas y espirituales, y
de enseñarles a amarse y a servirse el uno al otro, a observar los
mandamientos de Dios y a ser ciudadanos respetuosos de la ley dondequiera
que vivan. Los esposos y las esposas, las madres y los padres, serán
responsables ante Dios del cumplimiento de estas obligaciones.
La familia es ordenada por Dios. El matrimonio entre el hombre y la mujer

Por designio divino, el padre debe presidir la familia con amor y rectitud y
es responsable de proveer las cosas necesarias de la vida para su familia y de
proporcionarle protección. La madre es principalmente responsable del
cuidado de sus hijos. En estas sagradas responsabilidades, el padre y la
madre, como compañeros iguales, están obligados a ayudarse el uno al otro.
A los que están casados ¿Están trabajando como compañeros iguales?
Tengo un testimonio de estos principios.
Yo testifico del poder del sacerdocio. Yo he visto las bendiciones que

The Oath and Covenant of the Priesthood

D & C 84:33 For whoso is faithful unto the obtaining these two priesthoods
of which I have spoken, and the magnifying their calling, are sanctified by
the Spirit unto the renewing of their bodies.
34 They become the sons of Moses and of Aaron and the seed of Abraham,
and the church and kingdom, and the elect of God.
35 And also all they who receive this priesthood receive me, saith the Lord;
36 For he that receiveth my servants receiveth me;
37 And he that receiveth me receiveth my Father;
38 And he that receiveth my Father receiveth my Father’s kingdom;
therefore all that my Father hath shall be given unto him.
39 And this is according to the oath and covenant which belongeth to the
priesthood.
40 Therefore, all those who receive the priesthood, receive this oath and
covenant of my Father, which he cannot break, neither can it be moved.
What has the Lord promised us if we keep the oath and covenant of the
priesthood? All that the Father has.
What is our part in the covenant? To Receive and to Magnify.
In what way can we receive the Lord's servants? Don't we do that when we
accept callings and assignments that come to us from those that hold
priesthood keys? How can we magnify our callings? We magnify our
callings simply by completing the responsibilities that pertain to them.
What incentives do we need? (story of presidente Wilcock when he offered
$20 to a man to jump from a cliff into the ocean in Hawaii)
What would we do for $20, $100, $1,000, $100,000? Would we visit our
ministering families each month if the bishop promised us $1,000? Woudl
we come to our Sunday meetings each week if the Bishop gave us $100?
Would we accept and serve faithfully in whatever calling came our way if
that calling paid $100,000 a year? Hasn't the Lord promised us more than
all of these? He has promised us all that the Father has.
Now, these blessings that pertain to the oath and covenant of the priesthood
aren't only available to the men of the church. Elder M. Russell Ballard
(Ensign Sep 2014) has said:
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the Lord’s Church, and
His Church is governed by and through priesthood authority and priesthood
keys. “Priesthood keys are the authority God has given to priesthood leaders
to direct, control, and govern the use of His priesthood on earth. The
exercise of priesthood authority is governed by those who hold its keys (see
D&C 65:2; 81:2; 124:123) … [and] who have the right to preside over and
direct the Church within a jurisdiction.”
Those who have priesthood keys make it possible for all who serve or labor
faithfully under their direction to exercise priesthood authority and access
priesthood power. All men and all women serve in the Church under the
direction of those who have keys.
“In our Heavenly Father’s great priesthood-endowed plan, men have the
unique responsibility to administer the priesthood, but they are not the
priesthood, Men and women have different but equally valued roles.
As President Joseph Fielding Smith (1876–1972) explained: “The blessings
of the priesthood are not confined to men alone. These blessings are also
poured out upon … all the faithful women of the Church. … The Lord offers
to his daughters every spiritual gift.
The Lord's Plan is that men and women are together forever. Allow me to
share some parts of The Family, A Proclamation to the World.
...The divine plan of happiness enables family relationships to be
perpetuated beyond the grave. Sacred ordinances and covenants available in
holy temples make it possible for individuals to return to the presence of
God and for families to be united eternally...
Husband and wife have a solemn responsibility to love and care for each
other and for their children. “Children are an heritage of the Lord” (Psalm
127:3).
Parents have a sacred duty to rear their children in love and righteousness, to
provide for their physical and spiritual needs, and to teach them to love and
serve one another, observe the commandments of God, and be law-abiding
citizens wherever they live. Husbands and wives—mothers and
fathers—will be held accountable before God for the discharge of these
obligations.
The family is ordained of God. Marriage between man and woman is
essential to His eternal plan. Children are entitled to birth within the bonds
of matrimony, and to be reared by a father and a mother who honor marital
vows with complete fidelity. Happiness in family life is most likely to be
achieved when founded upon the teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Successful marriages and families are established and maintained on
principles of faith, prayer, repentance, forgiveness, respect, love,
compassion, work, and wholesome recreational activities.
By divine design, fathers are to preside over their families in love and
righteousness and are responsible to provide the necessities of life and
protection for their families. Mothers are primarily responsible for the
nurture of their children. In these sacred responsibilities, fathers and mothers
are obligated to help one another as equal partners
To those of us that are married, Are we working together as equal partners?
I have a testimony of these principles.
I testify of the power of the priesthood. I have witnessed the blessings that
come from priesthood service. I know that this is the Lord's Church. He
wants to bless us and give us all that he has.
